Gotland sea trout season 2012
From mr Per Jobs of FishYourDream.com we got some notes about the sea trout season 2012 at the island of Gotland; south Baltic Sea. Per says " Fishing on Gotland is good at the moment! More trout are caught and the quality of the fish are better than last seasons. The C&R rate among our guests is just over 90%. During April we ended up at an average of four fish landed per guided day. Total 157 up when fishing with a guide during that month. Top day in spring was 36 fish between two FishYourDream staff (and therefore not included in the statistics). Top day for guests fishing with one of our guides was 17 sea trout between three anglers. The reason? A mild winter after two tough ones, and we have also received several summers in a row with good water flows in the spawning rivers. But as usual, this is guesswork. Even if the fishing is good, we still needed work to provide better protection for our fine trout population on the island. We at Fish Your Dream are doing what we can to educate and inform. It is moving forward, albeit slowly. Meanwhile, and in the future, we must all treat our sea trout with respect: not to keep more than we need and always release colored, prespawning trout. One tip is to keep trouts lacking adipose fin, as they are farmed and stocked fish. They have nothing in our rivers do when they mix with the Gotland trout genes, which is bad when the farmed fish are not adapted to the Gotland environment; small streams with low flows. "Our" trout have adapted to this for a very long time and mixed genes may stem degenerate.
