Fishing in northern Lake Vättern

Lake Vättern and Unden in the south of Sweden are split by Tiveden National Park on Vättern’s northwestern edge. The Swedish record for both pike and salmon came from these deep, dark cold waters. So, if you’re looking for record-breaking fishing in unspoiled nature this is the place to be. Tiveden National Park, nestled between lake Vättern and lake Vänern, Sweden’s biggest lake, is a giant swathe of ancient forest dotted with immense ice age influenced rock formations. If you want a ‘get away from it all’ fishing trip - come here.

You can fish in Vättern and Unden all year-round. Catch the peak seasons between April – May and September – October, as well as pike, char, zander, salmon and salmon trout. Regarding accommodation you can stay at beautiful Bastedalen Herrgård (manor house) sitting on a peninsula on the northern edge of lake Vättern. Choose from a room in the main house, or go self-catering with your very own apartment. Family-friendly Camping Tiveden lies on the edge of Tiveden National Park, beside Lake Unden. It is a full-sevice facility offering 65 grass pitches and 10 paved areas for motor homes, as well as two lake-side camp sites. You can order in meals.
